Mouthwashing Cake Puzzle: Recipe, Codes and Mocktail

The Mouthwashing cake solution is Water + Gelatin = Cake Base, followed by Cake Base + Sweetener = finished cake. Use the lounge counter's equipment, place the cake on the dining table, then interact with the knife to continue Curly's birthday. If you want Wasteful, make the separate mocktail before serving the cake.

Check that you are at the birthday objective

The ordinary cake puzzle takes place in the lounge, six days before the crash. You have a preparation counter, a nutrition dispenser and recipe instructions nearby. This is the scene in which you are preparing Curly's birthday cake, rather than a later sequence that happens to show a cake.

Inspect the recipe booklet by the counter before combining anything. It establishes both the ingredients and the order: first create a base, then add Sweetener to that base. Keep the current objective and the scene's date card in mind because Mouthwashing deliberately presents its events out of chronological order.

Nutrition dispenser codes

These are in-game ingredient codes, not promotional redemption codes:

The community walkthrough places a water pouch on the counter when you begin the cake objective. Inspect that available pouch, then use the nutrition dispenser for the ingredients you still need. Water's dispenser code is useful when preparing the additional drink as well.

The dispenser provides ingredients; the other preparation equipment is where the recipe's combinations happen. If you are entering codes successfully but still have separate pouches, you have collected supplies rather than finished the cake.

Make Cake Base before adding Sweetener

Follow the cake branch in this order:

1. Obtain Water and Gelatin.
2. Use the counter's preparation equipment to combine them into Cake Base.
3. Obtain Sweetener with 2341.
4. Combine Cake Base + Sweetener to produce the finished cake.

The intermediate item matters. The second combination uses Cake Base, rather than a fresh water pouch. Reading the recipe as a list of three interchangeable ingredients misses that two-stage structure.

Tonic belongs to the drink branch. If you used Water and Tonic and now have a drink base, finish or set aside that preparation and return to the Water-and-Gelatin combination for the cake. The shared Water and Sweetener make the recipes easy to confuse, but Gelatin and Tonic determine which base you create.

Serve the cake and use the knife

Once you have the finished cake, take it to the dining table and place it there. Then interact with the knife to cut the cake and advance the party sequence. Making the item at the counter is only the preparation stage; serving it and using the knife complete the documented progression route.

Complete any optional mocktail preparation before this step. Both community guides place the birthday drink before advancing the cake scene, making that the conservative order when collecting achievements. Do not treat serving the cake as the first action if Wasteful is still on your checklist.

Make the separate birthday mocktail for Wasteful

The birthday mocktail uses Water + Tonic, followed by Sweetener. Its sequence is:

1. Collect Water with 3142 and Tonic with 1324.
2. Combine them to create the drink base.
3. Collect Sweetener with 2341.
4. Combine that base with Sweetener to finish the specialty mocktail.
5. Finish your cake preparation and serve the cake afterward.

The official Wasteful trigger specifically concerns making the Pony Express specialty mocktail at Curly's birthday. Making the cake alone does not meet that description. Likewise, a drink prepared during another story objective is not interchangeable with the birthday mocktail.

The current Steam list has eighteen achievements, and Wasteful is the relevant optional task for this preparation scene. Use the achievements checklist if you also want nearby employee-card locations; searching for a separate cake-completion achievement will not help identify Wasteful's requirement.

Troubleshoot the recipe by checking your current stage

You have ingredients but no cake: inspect the preparation counter and the recipe booklet again. The dispenser stage and the combining stage are separate. Check whether your inventory still contains individual pouches or already contains an intermediate base before deciding which combination remains.

You have Cake Base: the Water-and-Gelatin step is complete. The remaining ingredient is Sweetener, code 2341. Repeating the first combination does not replace the second step.

You have a drink base: you followed the Water-and-Tonic branch. That is useful for the optional mocktail, but the cake requires the Gelatin branch. Check the intermediate item's name rather than relying only on the ingredients' similar pouch presentation.

You are unsure about an ingredient code: consult the counter's recipe instructions and the scene's scanner clues, then compare the resulting ingredient with the table above. Use the full four-digit sequence. Codes such as 4517 for Cargo and 739 for the medical Protection Kit concern different puzzles; the gun-case guide covers the latter.

The cake is finished but the scene has not advanced: complete the documented serving sequence at the dining table, including the knife interaction. If you are already in a different objective or date, identify that scene before trying to repeat the birthday recipe.

Wasteful is missing: compare what you made with its official condition. It asks for the mocktail at the birthday, not Cake Base, a finished cake or merely collecting Tonic. Check Steam's achievement status after the completed preparation. These checks address recipe order and objective matching; no particular restart, input setting or other bug workaround is established here.

Later-story spoilers: other cakes are different scenes

Stop here if you only needed the birthday solution. Later surreal dining and television sequences reuse cake imagery alongside disturbing interactions involving Curly. Their objectives do not repeat the nutrition-dispenser recipe, so finding a cake on screen is not a signal to retrieve Gelatin again.

Match your present environment and objective to the walkthrough for those sequences.
